St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, the saint's religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century. The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over 1,000 years. On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink and feast--on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage.
Now when our school is a member of iEARN, we start working on the project devoted to the international Earth Day (April,22).
iEARN is a community of educators and learners making a difference as part of the educational process, an organisation giving an opportunity to apply knowledge in service-learning projects.

Волонтер з Корпусу Миру Кейтлін Когешел два роки працюватиме у спеціалізованій школі №5.
Вже втретє за останні сім років монастирищани, зокрема учні та педагоги спеціалізованої школи № 5, приймають у себе закордонного гостя – волонтера з Корпусу Миру Кейтлін, яка, як і її попередники – Джесіка Фішер та Стефані Молкентін – працюватиме у рамках «Проекту викладання англійської мови як іноземної».
Проект викладання англійської мови як іноземної сприяє розвитку навичок володіння англійською мовою студентами, учнями та вчителями. Добровольці заохочують незалежне мислення та вирішення проблем шляхом створення інтерактивного навчального середовища та використання сучасних методів і матеріалів. Добровольці працюють в освітніх закладах учителями та методистами з англійської мови. Добровольці-викладачі англійської мови щороку працюють з-понад 20000 українських учнів та студентів.
